The Grans-Fassian Wine Estate
Winegrowing at its best since 1624
Our wine estate is situated in Leiwen on the Moselle River, in the centre of the oldest German winegrowing region, adjacent to one of the largest and most beautiful Moselle River bends. The steep slate slopes, mostly facing south, rise above the sheltered river valley. The vineyard soil is rich in minerals and combined with the warm weather zone creates the perfect microclimate for the Riesling grape.
Prime sites and a long tradition in making wine
In 1982 Gerhard Grans took over the estate from his father Matthias steadily increasing the once 10 acre estate to its present 24 acres. We cultivate 88% Riesling, 10% Pinot Blanc and 2% Pinot Gris. Our best sites are classified to be in the highest category. These include highly regarded steep slope sites such as:
- Leiwener Laurentiuslay
- Trittenheimer Apotheke
- Dhroner Hofberg
- Piesporter Goldtröpfchen
Our Estate is member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (Verband Deutscher Qualitäts- und Prädikatsweingüter VDP).
